Furnace and Thermostat: The next major power consuming appliances of the houses are the electric furnaces. Electric furnaces should be planned in such a manner so that they give maximum efficiency along with minimum power consumption. The best place to set the furnace is in the wall corner of the drawing room. The next idea is about the maintenance. They need to be cleaned up at regular intervals. The thermostat setting of the furnaces should kept low when all are sleeping or when the room is empty.
Electrical Appliances: While buying the electrical appliances for the house one should always check for the energy star model. Such equipments are meticulously designed to keep power consumption on the minimal level like opting for CFLs instead of incandescent lamps which consume only one-fourth of the power.
The above mentioned tips if taken care can save you lots in terms of electric bills. Apart from them care should be taken to shut down all electrical items when not in use like the monitors, fans, lights, etc.
